Letters to Berwick Star News<\/h2>

Two letters from residents were published in the Berwick Star News edition of 29th October 2025. One Year Anniversary\n
November 9th 2025<\/h2>

On the 9th November 2024 Seven (Yes 7) MP\u2019s arrived at Berwick Springs Lake to announce that, without consultation, it had summarily been renamed to Guru Nanak Lake.\n

One year on we expect to see the Sikh Community gather, we should welcome Sikh Community members to Berwick Springs and show them how the our commmunity has worked hard for 25 years so that all faiths and cultures are able to enjoy the bueatiful surroundings.<\/span><\/p> <\/div>

JULY 2025<\/span><\/h5>

Petition Presented to Parliament<\/span><\/h2>

On 30th July 2025 our petition with over 2700 signatures was presented to Parliament. This means we have secured a debate in the Upper House. This enable us to create more publicity about the Governments shameful behaviour.\n<\/span>

We will be looking for volunteers to join us at the debate in Parliament which is likely to be within three months. If you are interested email us at info@berwicksprings.com.au.<\/a><\/span><\/p><\/div>

Community Meeting<\/h2>

Ann-Marie Hermans, MP, has confirmed her attendance, and will open a petition to The Legislative Assembly to overturn the renaming of Berwick Springs Lake
\nCr Shane Taylor has made his feelings clear in support of residents and will be on hand to answer questions, alongside fellow councillors Lynette Pereira and Michelle Crowther.
\nMichael Ball, BSCA President, has some major developments, and some astonishing news to announce following the receipt of Freedom of Information Requests.

Not All Members of the Sikh Community are in Favour of renaming Berwick Springs Lake<\/h2>

There have been some interesting comments on the SBS Punjabi Facebook page by Sikhs who do not favour the name change. \n<\/span>

We must remember that it is the State Government that has let down our community by failing to follow naming legislation and failing to consult the local community.<\/span><\/p> <\/div>

Berwick Springs Community Association<\/h2>

Residents formed the Berwick Springs Community Association to challenge the State Government and protect our community\u2019s identiity.  President, Michael Ball, stated that \u201cWe are here for the long term, we don\u2019t want division in our community we are united behind Berwick Springs Lake\u201d.<\/span><\/p> <\/div>
